C.E.R.T. Curriculum Overview
These are some of the doctrines, topics, and skills that are taught through C.E.R.T. - Horseshoe Bend:
1. Practical Christian Living* (Integrity, Obedience to God, Work, Relationships, God's Guidance, Marriage, Biblical Ecology, Money, Honesty, Human Value, Government, the Christian's Body).
2. Christian Beliefs* (Bible, Attributes of God, the Trinity, Humanity, Sin, Christ, Salvation & Issues, the Holy Spirit, Holiness, the Church, Final Events, and Ancient Creeds).
3. Apologetics* (Introduction, Misconceptions, Is There a God, Creation Apologetics, General Argument for the Christian Faith, Reliability of the New Testament, Prophecy and the Resurrection, Jesus' Claim to be God, Uniqueness of Christianity).
4. Principles of Biblical Interpretation* (Intro, Observation, Interpretation: Introduction/Context/Literary Forms/Word Study/General Principles), Application, and Practicing Passage Study.
5. Spiritual Formation* (Formed into the Image of Christ, The Journey, Biblical Assurance, S.F. through Knowing God, S.F. through Awareness of Self (Part 1 and Part 2), The Image of Christ Through Spiritual Training, Solitude/Meditation/Fasting/Simplicity, Private Prayer, Confession/Submission/Service, the Tongue and the Thought-life, Appetite/Time/Temperament/Personal Convictions, Formed Through Suffering, Formed by Christian Community).
6. The Life and Ministry of Jesus* (Preparation for Ministry, Praying Like Jesus, Leading Like Jesus, Teaching Like Jesus, Preaching Like Jesus, Jesus and the Kingdom of God, Loving Like Jesus, The Cross and The Resurrection, Leaving a Legacy).
7. Faith Traditions of the World* (Essential Christianity, Understanding Religious Conflict. Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witness, Iglesias Ni Cristo, Eastern Lightning, Apocalyptic Cults, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Judaism, New Age Religion, Nature Religions, Voodoo, Understanding Seventh Day Adventism, Understanding Roman Catholicism, Understanding Eastern Orthodoxy, Understanding Prosperity Theology).
8. Ministry Leadership* (Defining Leadership, Biblical Qualifications for Leaders, Importance of Leadership, Making of a Leader, Servant Leadership, Character-Based Leadership, Personal Priorities, Levels of Leadership, Connection and Engagement, Team Building, Ministry with Purpose, Leading Change, Developing Leaders, Crossing Cultures, Performance Response, Public Speaking, Personal Issues - Money/Time/Dress).
